Nico Rosberg has queried the levels of communication within Mercedes after he finished in third position at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
Mercedes was outsmarted by Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel, with the German claiming victory ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
Rosberg could only manage third after losing out at the first pit stop and having to negotiate his way through yet-to-pit rivals.
"It’s difficult as the engineers aren’t in the race cars, they have computers and numbers but we have nothing and I struggle to know what is going on, to stay on it it’s important to have details, I was missing that a bit today so we’ll discuss that after so I can have a better picture going on," he said.
"I didn’t understand after the first stop why I was closing on Lewis and then when we pitted he went into the distance, but it turns out he was on a different tyre which I didn’t know."
Hamilton also said that conversations from the Mercedes pit wall led to confusion.
"I remember there was some conversation, Paddy [Lowe] had pressed the wrong button and was yapping away in my ear and they were talking about stops, which confused me and wasn’t helpful," he said.
"When I put the Prime [tyre on] it felt good, Option felt better but I generally wasn’t happy with the balance, not sure what we could have done more."
