Nico Rosberg maintained his strong form as he topped the final practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Rosberg clocked a time of 1:23.078 to eclipse Lewis Hamilton by 0.126s during Saturday morning’s one-hour session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Rosberg’s time was set on his first hot lap on Soft tyres before he spent a brief period in the pits when his Mercedes W07 Hybrid went into limp home mode.
Rosberg’s advantage came in the final sector, with Hamilton having gone fastest across the first two sectors before failing to match his team-mate during the last few corners.
Sebastian Vettel was third for Ferrari, having set the quickest overall times through the first two sectors, as he remained within striking distance, only 0.147s behind his compatriot.
Max Verstappen was an encouraging fourth for Red Bull, a tenth of a second in front of team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, as Kimi Räikkönen collected sixth after hitting traffic in the final sector.
Valtteri Bottas was seventh for Williams, as Sergio Pérez, Daniil Kvyat and Fernando Alonso completed the top 10.
Nico Hülkenberg was 11th, ahead of Felipe Massa, Carlos Sainz Jr., Romain Grosjean and Jenson Button.
Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer were 16th and 18th for Renault, split by Esteban Gutiérrez, as Sauber and Manor completed the field.
Felipe Nasr narrowly edged out Marcus Ericsson, though the Swiss team held a buffer of over half a second to Pascal Wehrlein and Rio Haryanto.
