Nico Rosberg played down the scale of his neck injury, which caused him to sit out the afternoon session on day two of the second test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Rosberg completed 66 laps before sitting out the remainder of the day as a precaution.

Rosberg played down the concerns and said that a change of seat position led to the problem.

"I know the cause of it, it was my position in the car, which I got a bit wrong, I didn’t realise, so just being careful but it was all fine," he said.

"I liked it different but I can’t drive the one I like, my neck doesn’t like that one!

"I changed it in the winter, it’s incredible how a fine line it is sometimes, it was centimetres in this case and it changed everything.

Rosberg also expressed his surprise at the progress made by rivals.

"It’s clear that the others have really stepped up their game, lap time are surprising to us," he said.

"In relation it seems Ferrari has made the biggest step at the moment."
