Mercedes has confirmed that Nico Rosberg will remain with the team until at least the end of 2018 after signing a contract extension.
Rosberg joined Mercedes at the start of 2010 and has finished as runner-up in the championship to Lewis Hamilton in both 2014 and 2015.
Rosberg has taken all of his 19 victories with Mercedes, as well as 25 pole positions and 45 of his 47 podiums.
The news was announced on social media with Mercedes posting a video of Rosberg signing a contract before embracing team boss Toto Wolff.
Rosberg will now be tied down to Mercedes for the next two years, with the contract of team-mate Hamilton also expiring at the end of 2018.
The news means that all the anticipated top seats on the 2017 grid are secured, with Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull running an unchanged line-up.
The focus now is likely to be on McLaren, and whether it opts to retain Jenson Button alongside Fernando Alonso, or promote youngster Stoffel Vandoorne.
