Rosberg moves ahead in final practice

Mercedes' Nico Rosberg set the pace during the final practice session ahead of qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Rosberg’s time of 1:26.021 was 0.156s faster than Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel as drivers conducted qualifying simulations on the Option tyre during the closing stages of the 60 minute session.

World Champion Lewis Hamilton, who was fastest in Friday afternoon’s session, had a scruffy time as he spun at Turn 3 halfway through the session before locking up at the chicane on his hot lap.

Valtteri Bottas was fourth for Williams while Kimi Räikkönen was fifth after a wrong setting on his Ferrari SF150T.

Daniel Ricciardo clocked the sixth quickest time as he finally racked up some mileage in the Red Bull after a difficult Friday, while Felipe Massa was seventh.

Toro Rosso continued its momentum as Max Verstappen was eighth, with Carlos Sainz Jr in 10^th.

They were split by Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat, who only joined the action with 20 minutes remaining due to a water leak in his RB11.

Jenson Button was 11^th for McLaren, ahead of Nico Hülkenberg, Felipe Nasr and Fernando Alonso.

Lotus had a lowly session with Romain Grosjean in 15^th position, trailed by team-mate Pastor Maldonado and Sauber’s Marcus Ericsson.

Sergio Pérez was only 18^th for Force India, with the two Manor Marussia cars of Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi completing the runners.
