Nico Rosberg says he is happy to have closed Lewis Hamilton's advantage in the championship for the first time this year as he collected victory at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Rosberg followed up his first pole position of the campaign with a win at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, closing Hamilton's lead in the title race from 27 to 20 points.
"It was a perfect weekend," he said. "Great to be on pole and have a race like this. [I'm] very, very happy. I’d like to thank the team, the car has been awesome all weekend. It has been great.
"I got a great start as well, it has been a while coming but today worked out pretty well.
"[Closing the gap by] seven points - at one point maybe I thought Sebastian [Vettel] could get Lewis behind, of course [it would] not [be] good for the team but for me it would be better, but that’s the way it is.
"Seven points [is] better than nothing and a good team result again today, everybody bought upgrades here and still we’re dominating, more so than the last race actually."
