Nico Rosberg set the fastest time during second practice for the British Grand Prix.

Rosberg's time of 1:32.248 was 0.299s quicker than Red Bull's Mark Webber, while his team-mate Sebastian Vettel rounded out the top three.

Britain's Paul di Resta was fourth, with Lewis Hamilton was fifth.

Toro Rosso enjoyed a productive session as Daniel Ricciardo was sixth with Jean Eric Vergne narrowly behind in seventh.

Force India ensured both cars finished inside of the top eight courtesy of Adrian Sutil while Romain Grosjean and Fernando Alonso rounded out the top 10.

It was another difficult session for McLaren as Jenson Button was eleventh with team-mate Sergio Perez in fourteenth.

Sauber had both cars outside of the top 10 as Nico Hulkenberg was twelfth with Esteban Gutierrez in fifteenth place.

2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen was thirteenth in his Lotus E21.

Wet conditions during first practice meant that there was a hive of activity for the second of Friday's 90 minute sessions.

The track was still damp during the opening stages but quickly dried sufficiently for teams to trial Pirelli's prototype tyres.

Felipe Massa endured a troublesome session as he lost control of his Ferrari exiting Stowe and hit the barriers, ending his session having completed only seven laps.
