Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg has said that he can hit the heights achieved by reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel and added that he will not be put in the shade by team mate Michael Schumacher.
“It may be close between us [him and Schumacher], and maybe he will beat me, but there’s no way he’s going to put me in the shade,” he asserted, according to German newspaper Bild am Sonntag. “There is no reason why I would be worse than last year – on the contrary, I will be better!”
Rosberg, who will start his 100th GP later this year, also insisted that Mercedes can catch up to Red Bull.
“Where Vettel is now, I’ll get there. He has a good team around him in Red Bull, but myself and the whole team at Mercedes are working like crazy to catch up.”
