Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg says that he 'lost touch' during the final shootout session at the Monaco Grand Prix, as he was beaten by team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
Rosberg qualified on pole position in 2013 and 2014 but was second best to Hamilton in Q3, having emerged on top in the first two sessions on Saturday afternoon.
Whereas Hamilton said his confidence increased throughout the session, Rosberg said that he lost touch during the top 10 shootout as he locked up at Sainte Devote, costing himself a chance at improving at the end of running.
"I had] a bit the opposite to Lewis," he said. "[A] good rhythm starting off which I didn’t have all weekend but then [I] just lost touch a bit towards the end, going for it because you have to, as you know Lewis will be quick but it didn’t work out.
"I was confident I could improve and changed my balance as I had too much understeer, confident it would come my way but it didn’t."
