Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo says he expected more from the Malaysian Grand Prix after he claimed only 10th place at Sepang.

Ricciardo started from fourth on the grid but sustained front wing damage on the first lap, while he appeared to suffer from brake issues throughout the race.

"It was definitely difficult, not really fun, I had hopes a bit high coming into the race but I was ready for a fight, the race was anything but special, we couldn’t fight in any situation and every time I tried we just lost more ground, was a bit of a passenger by the end, bit of a nothing day," said Ricciardo.

"We knew we have more pace in the wet than dry but we still expected top four/five today. I damaged the front wing on the first lap which hurt a bit, the brakes [were tough], couldn’t look after tyres well today."

Daniil Kvyat was ninth after making contact with Nico Hulkenberg.

"I think it’s just a racing incident, if we didn’t do this we would both gain, he went for it but I don’t have anything against him," he said. "We are struggling with pace, we need more pace. Brakes were tricky but not something mega."
