McLaren driver Sergio Perez believes that former employers Sauber could pick up a race win in 2013.

Sauber took four podium finishes in 2012, with Perez narrowly missing out on victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

With the rules remaining relatively stable, the Mexican has tipped Sauber to shine once again.

“Sauber will be strong again, I am firmly convinced,” he told Speed Week.

“The rules are fairly stable, they have understood its car well, so why should they be worse than 2012?”

“I even think there could be World Championship events they are capable of winning.”

Sauber finished sixth in the 2012 championship and boast an all new line up this year in the form of Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Gutierrez.
