Esteban Ocon will make his Mercedes Formula 1 bow during next week's test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, doubling up with his duties as Renault's reserve driver.

Ocon will participate in free practice for Renault at the Spanish Grand Prix, before receiving a day's worth of running in the RS.16 on Tuesday, after which he will switch focus to Mercedes.

Mercedes confirmed to F1Zone.net that, after championship leader Nico Rosberg drives on Tuesday, Ocon will pilot the W07 Hybrid on Wednesday.

Ocon, 19, entered 2016 after securing successive titles in the European Formula 3 and GP3 championships.

Ocon's GP3 title earned him the backing of Mercedes, for whom he races in DTM, and the manufacturer has struck an agreement which sees the French youngster also act as Renault's test and reserve driver.

Ocon previously tested for the Enstone outfit, under its Lotus guise, in 2014 and conducted running with Force India last season.
