Lewis Hamilton has insisted that he has no regrets over his decision to leave McLaren for Mercedes.
McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh believes that Hamilton will come to rue his decision to leave for the Silver Arrows, although Hamilton insists that is not the case.
“I was a little bit surprised to hear that. It’s clearly not the case”, Hamilton said in Thursday’s press conference ahead of the United States Grand Prix.
“I’m sure everyone has emotions in the team and of course it’s quite emotional for me, but I’m very, very happy with the decision I’ve made”.
A series of failures on Hamilton’s side of the garage across the season has ruled him out of the title hunt, although he praised both Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso for their focus.
“It’s amazing to see how much focus they have considering how much pressure is on – they are both World Champions and they both handle it without a problem”.
“As for me, I’m happy just to be here for the last two races with my team”.
Hamilton has only taken part in one race in America, winning the 2007 – and final – event at Indianapolis.
