Felipe Nasr reckons Sauber will have to wit until Formula 1's summer break before it can realistically compete for points on a regular basis.

Nasr claimed fifth on his debut in Australia and added more points with eighth in China, but failed to score in either Bahrain or Spain.

"From what I hear we are waiting on a bigger update to come maybe after the break, hopefully we can bring more downforce on the car and improve the whole package," he said.

"Until there I'm excepting to have more difficult times and it’s not been easy to get in the top 10 anymore but we never know, anything can happen in Monaco and Canada – so far we finished the races so I’m happy with the experience I’m getting. We want more, of course we do, and I want to get back to the points as soon as we can."

Nasr is aware that Sauber's primary limitation remains a lack of downforce.

"I think it’s a bit of everything, I know still our main limitation is the aero side, we are very limited on the downforce side as we have the same package as at the beginning of the year," he said.

"It’s clear that Barcelona was a very demanding track on downforce, Toro Rosso was 24km quicker than us in Turn 3 for example, so it was clear to see our limitation was that, and you start wearing tyres more.

"Our car is not too bad in slow speed corners, we seem to have quite a bit of stability and we are more competitive in slow speed than high speed."
