Melbourne will continue to host the Australian Grand Prix until at least 2023, Victoria Premier Andrew Daniels confirmed on Saturday.
Melbourne took over the mantle from Adelaide in 1996 and has hosted the Australian Grand Prix ever since, with the event typically the curtain-raiser to the Formula 1 season.
Last year it was confirmed that Melbourne had extended its deal with the sport until 2020, but Daniels has now announced that the city will host the Australian Grand Prix through to 2023.
The race had been used as a political football, with Sydney eyeing a move to host the event, but it will remain in Melbourne for at least the eight years.
Next year's Australian Grand Prix is set to take place on April 3.
