Sergio Perez says that it's not a great feeling to complete a 'mega' lap and only set the seventh fastest time.
Perez believes he extracted the maximum performance from the McLaren MP4-28 around the streets of Monte Carlo.
"It’s not great to cross the finish line, feel like you’ve just done a mega lap, and find that you’re only seventh," he said.
"Still, I put in a really strong performance here today, and I felt like I’d really maximised the full potential of the car."
The Mexican failed to start the race in 2011 following a heavy crash during qualifying. After not scoring points during the 2012 race, Perez is confident that he can break his Monaco points duck.
"We know we’re not quite there yet performance-wise, so we need to keep pushing. But the team has done a fantastic job so far this weekend, and I hope we can keep the momentum going tomorrow and score some good points."
