Max Chilton eyeing Marussia seat

By on Friday, November 30, 2012

Marussia reserve driver Max Chilton believes that he can get the seat recently vacated by Charles Pic.

Pic raced for Marussia in 2012 but will move on to Caterham for next season, freeing up a drive alongside Timo Glock.

Chilton drove for the team in the young driver test at Silverstone and was announced as their reserve driver at the Singapore Grand Prix.

"I was glad to see that Charles had gone to Caterham as that has opened up a space at Marussia, where I want to be", the GP2 racer told

"There are plenty of negotiations going on and I’ve just got to work on that over the next month or so to try and get that role".

Chilton has been linked to a seat since he signed for the team as a reserve driver but admits other plans are in place should he not acquire the Marussia seat.

"We’ve obviously got other plans in place if a race seat doesn’t come off, so I may spend another year learning and just developing my skills. But, I really want to get that race seat. I think the team are really enjoying my company and are happy with my speed so hopefully something will come off".
