Felipe Massa says that punctures during Friday practice are a concern, despite clarifications from Pirelli that the incidents were debris related.

Sebastian Vettel suffered a puncture at Stavelot, while Fernando Alonso also endured a similar fate.

"I was concerned because it is not the first time it’s happened, it’s happened many times so I think until we don’t see that it is not happening any more then we’ll feel more comfortable," he said following qualifying.

"So I hope what they say is right but sometimes you have debris coming from the tyres and these things resulting in a puncture is not really correct so I hope it is what they say."

Pirelli's motorsport director Paul Hembery says "we’d like to point out that overnight investigation of the two punctures that affected Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso during free practice yesterday resulted in a clear conclusion: Vettel’s puncture was caused by debris – a metal piece of another car – getting stuck between the floor and the wheel, while Alonso’s tyre was also clearly cut by the same piece."

"The markings on each tyre match up and this was also sustained in the same place: turn 13."
