Raffaele Marciello says he felt more comfortable in the Sauber C34 as he completed his second Formula 1 practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix.

GP2 driver Marciello is combining his duties in the feeder series with a role as Sauber's test and reserve driver and the Italian returned to the C34 on Friday, having piloted it previously during practice in Malaysia.

"[It was] quite busy but it was quite good," he said. "I was quite close to Felipe [Nasr]. I did improve a lot on the second run, it was not easy to do all the constant speed plus also warm up the tyres.

"But I think it was not bad for me. Compared to Malaysia, it was better, I know the track here so it was better for me. Also I had already the feeling of the car from Malaysia so I knew where the limit was and it was easier, for sure."

Marciello will also drive the car during next week's in-season test and says that his performance there will be more indicative of his potential.

"It is not always about lap times, it was my first time in Malaysia but not my first time here," he said.

"Other drivers have tested here in the winter and it is quite a famous track for tests, so I think during next week’s test I can show more my potential because I have all day to push to the limit."

Marciello did not know when he would compete in another practice session this year but a Sauber spokesperson confirmed he is scheduled for two more Friday outings.
