Pastor Maldonado says that he is likely to remain with Williams in 2014, despite a difficult season with the team.
Maldonado joined Williams in 2011 and scored just a single point in his debut season, but took Williams’s first victory since 2004 at the Spanish Grand Prix last season.
This year, Maldonado’s 10th place finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix remains Williams’s only point of the season.
“For sure it was a hard beginning of the season and it was quite a hard time for us as a team,” Maldonado said ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.
“We have been working very, very hard – 24 hours a day – trying to improve our performance and trying to do something different to improve the car’s performance.”
“At the moment we maybe find some way, but it is not enough to catch the teams that are quite close to us. For sure there is nothing to do, we just need to keep trying until the last race – there are still five races to go.”
“We have been quite close – even last weekend – to be in the points, but have had some problem in the last part of the race, but I will keep trying to get some more points before the end of the season and then we will see for next year. At the moment I have a contract and it is looking quite good.”
