That's it from our live coverage today but remember to stay tuned to the site for all the reaction from a very warm Hockenheim!
  • 13:29 pm
FP2 comes to a sedate end. Hamilton holds the advantage, but just 0.024s ahead of Rosberg in what is likely to be a close battle in qualifying on Saturday. Ricciardo ends in third position, ahead of Raikkonen, Magnussen and Massa. Button, Vettel, Alonso and Bottas are all in close contention to round out the top 10.
  • 13:26 pm
Raikkonen runs slightly wide at turn 12 and then locks up into 13
  • 13:22 pm
Everyone but Kvyat is out on track as they continue long runs.
  • 13:17 pm
Rosberg comes into the pits as Mercedes service Hamilton, causing the German's right front brakes to start smoking.
  • 13:16 pm
Replays show rubber flying from Vergne's left front tyre as he continues a long run on options
  • 13:13 pm
Kobayashi's car has been returned to the pits. It's all covered up as Caterham wheel it towards their garage.
  • 13:10 pm
Long runs are now the order of the day - the big question will be how the option tyre holds up in such heat.
  • 13:05 pm
Grosjean runs wide at turn two and in the process manages to hold up Vettel
  • 13:03 pm
Air temperature has now hit 33c, track temperature briefly went up to 58c.
  • 12:54 pm
35 minutes remaining in the session and Hamilton still leads Rosberg
  • 12:43 pm
Ricciardo goes wide at the first corner, but doesn't lose much time - another case of track limits?
  • 12:42 pm
Rosberg sets a 1.18.365...but Hamilton does a 1.18.341 to move to the front
  • 12:41 pm
    Massa slots into second place
  • 12:40 pm
But not for long. Ricciardo lowers the benchmark by almost a second.
  • 12:40 pm
    Sutil has gone fastest.
  • 12:39 pm
Rosberg starts a lap on options but he runs wide at turn two
  • 12:38 pm
Still a lot of smoke coming from the back of Kobayashi's stricken Caterham
  • 12:36 pm
While we got all excited about a slightly charred Caterham, Hulkenberg took to the options and went second fastest
