Charles Leclerc says he would feel ready if the opportunity to race in Formula 1 next season came his way.

Leclerc, 18, joined Ferrari’s young driver scheme at the start of the year and currently leads the GP3 Series standings, racing for ART Grand Prix

Leclerc made his test debut for Ferrari at Silverstone, sandwiched by two FP1 outings with Haas, having placed 16th in the first practice session at the Hungaroring.

“Yeah, I think so," he said when asked whether he felt prepared to make the step up.

“We will see with the opportunity I get at the end of the year, but if I have the opportunity I will jump on it.”

Leclerc is nonetheless wary that he had to emerge victorious in GP3 this year.

“A little bit," he said when it was suggested such a situation raises the pressure.

"But in the end I always have the same mind set. I give the best of myself then I will see what it gives at the end of the year."
