Hulkenberg has scored seven points this season across the first 10 races of 2013.
“The summer break is just limited development with the factory shutdown, so we only end up with one week. We have a minor update on the front wing but to be honest I see us where we were before the summer break,” he said.
“If everything goes smoothly, it [a point] should be possible but we really have to stretch ourselves to get into the top 10.”
Hulkenberg is not expecting the newer tyres – introduced in Hungary – to make a huge difference
“Not really,” he said when asked whether tyres would boost Sauber. “We picked up car performance but then so did everyone else.”
Hulkenberg also added that he would like his Formula 1 future resolved before the end of September.
“Kimi [Raikkonen] is playing a role but it’s not necessarily dependent on him. I want to make a decision when I feel I’ve made the right choice. Ideally like to have it done by the end of September.”
