Manor debutant Rio Haryanto accepted the blame for a spin which disrupted his running during the third day of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Haryanto, piloting the Manor MRT05 for the first time, spun on the approach to Turn 5, leaving his car stranded in the gravel trap.

Haryanto was able to return to the circuit and he rounded out the runners, having completed 78 laps, and said the experience felt different to his days racing in GP2.

"I made a small mistake and that’s it, no damage to the car, so we managed to get going [again] in the afternoon," he told assembled media.

"It feels [like] a lot of people working around, it’s quite a bit different compared to my previous category, different feeling, a lot of people putting a lot of effort in, I’m thankful they did a good job today."

Haryanto is also sure that Manor has made a substantial step compared to 2015; the Indonesian sampled the MR03B in the post-race Abu Dhabi tyre test last year.

"That’s one of the goal of Manor this year to be a midfield runner team and I think we will improve day by day, we still have more to come I guess," he concluded.
