Lewis Hamilton is sure that he and title rival Nico Rosberg can have a fair fight at this weekend's season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton leads Rosberg by 17 points ahead of the final round of the year at the Yas Marina Circuit.

The pair made contact during the Belgian Grand Prix, resulting in a retirement for Hamilton, but the Championship leader is sure that they can have a clean weekend.

"It’s already been discussed at the beginning of the season and several times through the season and particularly after Spa, so there’s no reason to revisit it," Hamilton said when asked if he and Rosberg would discuss matters prior to the race.

"We’re not children, we should know what is wrong and what is right."

Rosberg, nonetheless, issued a very public statement to Hamilton.

"Lewis can do something to keep it clean which is drive cleanly himself," he said. "So it’s not like he can’t do anything."

The pair both expressed their delight at fighting for the Formula 1 title, over a decade after they scrapped it out for the karting crown.

"It’s quite amazing to think now that 15 years later we’re actually in that position which we used to dream about, to be in the best F1 team, fighting for the championship, fighting for race wins," said Rosberg. I

"It’s really amazing. Of course now it’s more intense, there’s more surrounding it, that’s the best way to put it.

"I generally feel it’s quite similar to back in the karting days," concluded Hamilton. "At that age, it was as intense as I had experienced, I wanted to win back then and nothing’s changed."
