Lewis Hamilton has insisted that he is not getting carried away despite his recent dominance in Formula 1.

Hamilton has claimed pole position for three of this season's four races and the Brit has won the most recent three events, in Malaysia, Bahrain and China respectively.

But despite his form, Hamilton insists that he and Mercedes remain focused on continuing their current job.

"Life is incredible at the moment," he said. "When you’re winning everything is great, but we’re trying to keep our heads down and remain focused and not get carried away with the last couple of races. But we’re excited for this weekend the remaining races.

"To come to a race weekend and know we have a car we can compete with is a feeling I don’t remember having for a long time. I’m enjoying every moment as you never know when it comes or goes again."

Hamilton expects the aerodynamic traits required at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to aid the progress made by his rivals and anticipates a stronger fight from reigning champions Red Bull.

"We have less straights here, shorter straights," he said. "Naturally, before everyone’s put the upgrades on, the gap would be closer. Everyone’s going to be bringing upgrades, so it’ll be interesting to see if the gap is there.

"The Red Bulls have a car maybe with a little bit more downforce but don’t have as much power – here it’s a downforce dependent circuit so you’ll get an indication of how good their car is. Fernando [Alonso] recovered a bit of pace at the last race so Red Bull and Ferrari should be there."
