World Champion Lewis Hamilton posted the quickest time during the third practice session ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Hamilton registered a 1:34.599 to eclipse Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel by 0.069s during a session which took place in day time at Sakhir, compared to qualifying and the race, which will take place under the floodlights.

Nico Rosberg was third fastest for Mercedes and Kimi Räikkönen recorded the fourth best time to ensure that Mercedes and Ferrari remain at the top of the times.

Valtteri Bottas was fifth quickest for Williams with team-mate Felipe Massa in sixth place.

There was then a gap of almost a second back to seventh-placed Pastor Maldonado, while Daniel Ricciardo was the sole Red Bull driver in the top 10 as he placed eighth.

Nico Hülkenberg put Force India into ninth position while Sauber’s Felipe Nasr continued his good form by rounding out the top 10.

Jenson Button finished 11th for McLaren and Daniil Kvyat recovered to 12th position, having spun into the gravel at Turn 4 mid-way through the session, briefly bringing out the red flags.
