Lewis Hamilton has admitted that Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg was faster across the Spanish Grand Prix, despite the Brit claiming his fourth successive victory.

Hamilton started the race from pole position and adopted an option-option-prime tyre strategy, compared to Rosberg's option-prime-option approach.

Hamilton emerged from his final stop six seconds clear but his lead was cut drastically as he eventually came across the line just 0.6s ahead of Rosberg.

"Getting my first race win here after trying for eight years is very difficult to put into words, the feeling when you come to a race and have a result like this," he said.

"Never have I had a car like this or a gap like this to anyone before. Nico did fantastically and I struggled to keep him behind but I managed to."

"[On] Friday the car was excellent. I was very fast, but then changes transformed the car. Today I was not able to attack the corners due to snap oversteer, which was where Nico was catching me."

Hamilton reckons that, despite claiming the points lead, he still has time to find in the W05 Hybrid.

"I have a bit of work to do in the next couple of weeks," he said. "But I need to figure out where I’m losing time. I’ve got more time to find in this car."
