Lewis Hamilton conceded that he simply wasn't quick enough during qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix as he was beaten to pole position by Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg.
Hamilton came into the weekend having claimed every pole of 2015 but Rosberg posted a time which Hamilton was unable to beat, leaving the World Champion to take second position.
"I just generally didn’t have the pace, Nico did a great job, I didn’t have the balance how I like it, I did my best and tomorrow there’s a lot to play for," he said.
Pole sitter Rosberg saved a set of tyres during qualifying and with overtaking traditionally tricky at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Rosberg says he is pleased with his track advantage.
"Strategy is going to be important and it’s a big advantage to have a new set of tyres for the race, overtaking [is] more difficult here so starting in front is a particular advantage here," he said.
