World Champion Lewis Hamilton continued Mercedes’ good form at the final pre-season test as he set the quickest time on the penultimate day at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Hamilton moved to the top of the times with a 1:23.022 on the Soft tyres, ending the day two-tenths of a second quicker than Williams’ Felipe Massa, who achieved his fastest time on the Super Soft rubber.

Kimi Räikkönen, who also set his best lap on the red-banded Pirelli tyres, was third quickest, just 0.014s behind former team-mate Massa.

The Finn completed a race simulation during the afternoon session after his morning was slightly compromised by an electrical issue.

Carlos Sainz Jr. spent most of the day at the foot of the times but promoted himself to fourth late before he stopped on track at Turn 3, bringing out the red flags.

Romain Grosjean moved up to fifth with a late lap as he completed his pre-season running for Lotus.

Marcus Ericsson placed sixth for Sauber but caused the session to be suspended when he stopped at Turn 3 during the final hour of running.

Nico Hülkenberg racked up the miles in the new Force India VJM08 as he completed the most running of anyone - 158 laps - to sit seventh.

Kevin Magnussen enjoyed his first taste of 2015 action as he replaced the recovering Fernando Alonso at McLaren.

Magnussen set McLaren’s quickest time so far at the circuit this year but his day came to a close after 39 laps due to an oil leak.

Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo ended the day at the foot of the times, though was nonetheless one of seven runners to rack up over 100 laps of the circuit.
