Hamilton admits overhauling Alonso will be difficult

Lewis Hamilton has said that overhauling Fernando Alonso's thirty-seven point lead in the championship will be a difficult task.

The Brit, 27, was asked how he will overcome his deficit to his former team-mate.

"With great difficulty - it will be tough", he said. He has had an incredible run through the year with great consistency. He would be even further ahead if he didn't have his problem [in Spa]. He was quicker than me that weekend, so his lead would be even greater."

Hamilton sits two points ahead of Sebastian Vettel and said that he cannot rule out the German, who made a late surge to claim his first title in 2010.

"He is the reigning world champion so he is obviously a strong candidate for the championship. They have a great car that has performed well all year apart from maybe the last race, but otherwise they have been very strong."
