Haas Automation will sponsor Ferrari until the end of 2015, prior to Gene Haas's move into the sport with his own team.

Haas's eponymous team is set to enter the sport in 2016 and has yet to confirm which engine he will use in his cars.

"Haas Automation is a premium brand, and there’s no better way to drive that point home than to connect it with Ferrari on motor racing’s biggest stage," said Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation.

"Over the past few months, we have been exploring a number of potential areas of collaboration and this agreement is the first step," added Ferrari team principal Marco Mattiacci.

"It will enable Haas Automation to reinforce its already strong brand awareness around the world, thanks to the global reach of Formula 1.

We are therefore delighted to make this announcement, which sees another premium brand join our portfolio of partners."

Mattiacci added that the announcement of Haas as a sponsor of Ferrari does not mean that the Italian outfit will supply engines to Haas's squad from 2016.

"In parallel, but as a separate project, Haas is committed to entering Formula 1 with its own team, a testimony to the growing appeal of our sport in the USA and on this front, technical discussions are ongoing between us," he said.
