Romain Grosjean set the fastest time during final practice ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Grosjean's time of 1:20.730 was just over a tenth of a second quicker than Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.

Sergio Perez set the third fastest time for McLaren but his session ended in the barriers with only a couple of minutes remaining.

Perez appeared to dip a wheel onto the grass on the entry to Turn 10, losing the rear end and having a side-on impact into the tyre barriers.

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel was fourth, ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa and Mercedes's Lewis Hamilton.

Mark Webber was seventh, with Nico Rosberg, Jenson Button and Adrian Sutil rounding out the top 10.

Several drivers had their final run on option tyres scuppered by Perez's error.

It was a bad session for Sauber's Esteban Gutierrez.

The Mexican completed only an installation lap before the team discovered a problem with his engine, forcing Gutierrez out of the session.

Valtteri Bottas also pulled his Williams into the garage towards the end of the session with a suspected engine issue.
