Formula 1 set for street demo in Rotterdam

Rotterdam will host the ninth edition of the biggest motorsport event in The Netherlands on Sunday, a street demonstration which attracts thousands enthusiasts every year.

Dutchman Giedo van der Garde is the only Formula 1 driver on the grid to attend the event, but two other names connected with the sport will also be in attendance to entertain the fans.

Sauber's reserve driver Robin Frijns and compatriot Jos Verstappen - who took a podium finish in 1994 - will also attend the event.

Lotus will join in the fun by bring a Formula 1 showcar, which can be seen during the day at the Paddock entrance. Lotus also attended last year’s edition when Romain Grosjean challenged fans to a Formula 1 simulator.

Van der Garde will demonstrate a Caterham Formula 1 car in front of his home crowd for the second time, after his appearance at the event in 2012.

Frijns will run a Fortec Motorsports Formula Renault 3.5 car, the team with which he became Champion last year.

Both Frijns and van der Garde are set to drive two rounds, with the Caterham driver getting an extra run for the installation lap.

Tomorrow it will be the first time for Jos Verstappen to give a public perfomance with his son, Max. The senior will drive an Auto GP car while the junior is to demonstrate a CRG/TM-kart.

Moreover, at VKV City Racing Rotterdam the fans will get the chance to experience other forms of moto racing such as Porsche Rally, Dakar Challenge, NL Drift Series or Formula Renault 1.6. will be in attendance at the event.
