Ferrari has said that Kimi Raikkonen will be fit for the German Grand Prix after the Finn had an enormous accident at the start of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Raikkonen lost control of his Ferrari F14T after re-joining the circuit following an off-track moment at Aintree and slammed into the barriers, with the impact registering 47G.

The race was red flagged while the guardrail was repaired.

Raikkonen 'took a hard knock on the ankle and also has pain in a knee', read a Ferrari statement.

'He will now have to rest but he will be back in time for the next round in Germany.'

Raikkonen's team-mate, Fernando Alonso, went on to finish the race in sixth place.
