Ferrari pair Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso expressed their satisfaction following Friday's practice sessions ahead of the squad's home race at Monza.
Both drivers feared that Monza's layout would not be suited to Ferrari's F14T, but Raikkonen set the third fastest time, just a tenth down on pace setter Nico Rosberg, while Alonso ended the day in fourth place.
"That was a very busy day, but a positive one," said Raikkonen. "We made the most of every minute available to us in both sessions, managing to try everything we had on our programme. In the morning, we concentrated on assessing different aero configurations, in search of the best level of downforce.
"Then in the afternoon, we opted for an intermediate solution that seemed to produce the best results on both compounds. The difference between the Option tyre and the Prime is more or less what we expected; the softer one behaves well, but in terms of driveability, I found the Prime wasn’t bad either."
Alonso, who has never finished off the podium in four attempts with Ferrari at Monza, was also encouraged by their progress.
"In general, I’m happy with the work we did on set-up and tyres and especially with the time I did with a heavy fuel load," he said.
