Date of Birth: 02/09/1990 | Nationality: Swedish | Twitter: @Ericsson_Marcus

Career:

Ericsson claimed titles in Formula BMW and Japanese Formula Three, before participating in the prestigious F3 Macau race. He claimed pole position for the event - ahead of future Formula 1 rivals Valtteri Bottas, Jules Bianchi and Daniel Ricciardo - before finishing fourth in the race.

He stepped up to GP2 for 2010 and raced for Super Nova in his rookie season and claimed a sprint race win in Valencia, before switching to iSport for 2011. That move yielded no wins in 2011 but in 2012 he progressed and ended the season strongly as he notched up a win at Spa that propelled him up to eighth in the championship.

For 2013 he moved to DAMS, the team which guided Romain Grosjean and Davide Valsecchi to the championship in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

But Ericsson was dogged by misfortune across the first half of the season and took until the tenth round of the campaign to finish in the top 10 of a race. He nonetheless claimed two pole positions across the opening five rounds. His form improved as he collected a win and a further four podiums to finish the championship in sixth position.

Ericsson has previously tested Formula 1 machinery as he participated in the young driver test for Brawn GP at Jerez towards the end of 2009.
