Stefano Coletti extended his GP2 championship lead after taking victory in the Sprint race at the Circuit de Catalunya.

The Monegasque driver took the lead at the start of the race and was untroubled up front.

But the star of the weekend was Hilmer Motorsport's Robin Frijns.

In only his second GP2 event, Sauber reserve driver Frijns stormed to victory in the feature race and followed that up with second in the sprint race.

Carlin's Felipe Nasr took second and third in the two races, while Frijns's team-mate Jon Lancaster also impressed with a podium on his return to the series.

A crazy feature race saw Tom Dillmann finish in fifth place despite being caught up in a number of incidents. The Frenchman started from fourteenth place but was forced wide early on and escaped unharmed when Nathaniel Berthon flew over the back of his car at Turn 10.

Dillmann was also forced off by Stephane Richelmi and was challenging for the final podium place when he ran wide.

Sunday's sprint race was a relatively mundane affair until fourth placed Johnny Cecotto Jr struggled with his tyres, resulting in a 10 car train behind the Venezuelan.

Matters came to a head on the penultimate lap when Cecotto forced Sergio Canamasas off the circuit and the Spaniard was hit from behind by Rio Haryanto. The result was a chaotic last lap, with Racing Engineering's Julian Leal spinning off in the contretemps.

Cecotto was widely criticised for his actions on the penultimate lap, with the stewards investigating his conduct.
