Chilton to race after Marussia U-turn

By on Friday, August 22, 2014

Chilton MontrealMax Chilton will race for Marussia as usual this weekend, despite an announcement on Thursday afternoon that Alexander Rossi was set to make his Formula 1 debut in place of the Brit.

Chilton, who has raced for Marussia since the start of 2013, "voluntarily stepped aside," for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, while Marussia claimed they had to resolve "contractual issues."

But on Friday morning Marussia applied to change their nominated driver back from Rossi to Chilton following the completion of the first practice session.

Marussia's line-up for this weekend's race will therefore consist of usual drivers Chilton and Jules Bianchi, with Rossi participating in the first session.
