Alfonso Celis Jr. believes he is edging closer to the ultimate pace after completing two days of in-season running for Force India at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Celis Jr. joined Force India as its development driver at the end of 2015 and took part in practice in Bahrain and Russia, finishing five seconds down on the pace setter on both occasions.
Celis Jr. was seventh fastest during the second day of in-season testing in Spain and finished 1.8s down on Max Verstappen, who registered the quickest time.
"I am very pleased with the work I was able to do during these two days," said Celis Jr.
"It was quite a varied programme and I enjoyed it – especially feeling the car over the long runs.
"I am feeling much more comfortable in the car and I was able to help the team by bringing home a lot of data.
"I am getting much closer to the pace I want to show and I feel I can push the car harder with every run."
Celis Jr. is set to receive five more practice sessions across the remainder of 2016.
