Caterham will be allowed to re-use their 2014 machine, should the administrators find a buyer willing to keep the team in the sport.

Caterham's administrator, Finbarr O'Connell, says that at a meeting of the Formula 1 Commission it was agreed that the squad can compete in 2015 with their CT05 - a move which needs final ratification at this week's World Motor Sport Council meeting in Qatar.

"It was proposed as something to help Caterham and Marussia but will be available to any team if they want to apply to the FIA," O'Connell told Reuters.

Caterham returned to Formula 1 for the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after missing two races.

O'Connell added that there are "two very interested parties and a number of others who I feel are not as interested," in purchasing the backmarker team.

Caterham finished the 2014 season in 11th place in the Constructors' Championship and has not yet scored a point in five years of competition.
