From second row to double podium finish

Scuderia Ferrari probably got the most they could out of a difficult Sunday at Hungaroring with Sebastian Vettel finishing second and Kimi Raikkonen third. However, there has to be a question mark about what might have been if no hesitation at the pit stop or if it hadn’t rained on Saturday afternoon. Despite all this, the SF71H continues to show its strength and anticipates an interesting second part of the season after the summer break. Raikkonen started the Hungarian GP from third on the Ultrasoft […]

Verstappen:

Frustrating day for Red Bull's Max Verstappen as he had to retire from the Hungarian Grand Prix with an engine failure with only five laps gone. The Dutchman had made a great start from P7 and while having a competitive race car at Hungaroring he might have been in the fight for a podium finish. It is now a question of him getting penalties for the Belgian GP at Spa-Francorchamps after the summer break. “Today didn’t go the way we planned. I felt good with […]

Hülkenberg:

As a contrast to yesterday’s wet Qualifying session, the Hungaroring basked in searing sun for the Grand Prix, bringing tyre management considerations to the fore. Both Renault drivers made strong starts, but it proved hard work moving up the order thereafter. Hülkenberg was P10 at the end of the first lap, but finished in twelfth position, pushing hard after a late stop to change to the Ultrasoft tyres. “We didn’t have the pace in the car today, and the balance felt poor," Nico Hülkenberg explained. "Ultimately, […]

Both Haas drivers employed a one-stop strategy in the 70-lap race around Hungaroring. Grosjean, who started 10th, was the first to pit, bringing his Haas VF-18 in for service on lap 29, swapping his ultrasoft tires for softs. Magnussen, who started just ahead of […]

Good qualifying for Toro Rosso

Despite knowing the qualifying in Hungary would offer potential for a good result with the characteristics of their car, Toro Rosso didn’t imagine that their drivers would be lining up in P6 and P8 for the race on Sunday. The wet conditions worked in their favour and the correct decisions on tyres help on achieving the good result. “It was a crazy qualifying for us, especially in these conditions but I’m super happy with the outcome! It was very tricky to keep the car on […]

Double Q1 knockout for Force India

A tricky qualifying session for Force India today, which didn’t really go to plan. A brake problem held back Esteban Ocon and seriously compromised his qualifying session, especially towards the end when the track was improving. “It’s disappointing to be out in Q1, but we had an issue with the brakes that held us back. I pitted for slicks when the track was improving and my brake pedal went long. We tried to optimise the situation as much as we could, cooling down the brakes, […]
