Jost Capito has confirmed that he is set to link up with McLaren at the end of the summer break, once his duties with Volkswagen Motorsport have been completed.

McLaren announced in January that Capito would join as its new Chief Executive Officer, once an agreement had been reached with current employers Volkswagen.

Capito has fronted Volkswagen's successful period in the World Rally Championship, with the manufacturer on course to win both titles for a fourth successive season.

Capito is now set to move to his new position at McLaren in time for either the Belgian or Italian Grands Prix, which take place following Formula 1's summer break.

"It will be the end of August, beginning of September, something around that region," he said at the FIA Sport Conference.

"I’m looking forward to the switch; otherwise I wouldn’t have done it!"
