Jenson Button insists that McLaren will resolve the issues currently affecting the MP4-30 after the Briton endured another frustrating day of pre-season testing.

Button was only able to complete 24 laps, the fastest of which was 4.8s off the pace, and stopped on track during the morning session, which put him out of action for much of the remainder of the day.

"We’re not in for another tough season, but whether we’re ready for the first race or not, that’s something I can't answer right now," he said.

"This is a very different situation to the last two years, [the] last two years we just weren’t quick enough whereas now this is new for us.

"Everyone else out there has so much experience with [the] power unit whereas Honda doesn’t. It looks worse than it is, I would love to be pounding around every day but it’s not the case.

"There are problems which we will solve, hopefully the next test sill be good for us in terms of mileage. I think for us we’re not going to have a race winning car at the first race, but we might have one at the last race, you’ll see big improvements from us, we’re interested to see what this car can do at full power"
