Valtteri Bottas is hopeful that Williams will be able to compete for the podium at the Austrian Grand Prix, a circuit where it has traditionally been strong.

Bottas finished on the podium in 2014, after he and polesitter Felipe Massa locked out the front row of the grid for Williams.

Massa maintained Williams' strong performance at the circuit by placing third in 2015 and Bottas, who collected Williams' only podium of 2016 in Canada, is eyeing a repeat.

"It’s always really tricky but I think this is still going to be one of the best races for us, so it’s a good opportunity to try and be again on the podium," he said.

"I think that’s a good target, we’ll have to see as Red Bull is still strong, they can be strong here, also Ferrari. It’s difficult to predict but it should be better than Baku."

Bottas is also hopeful that the Ultra Soft tyres will help his cause, after issues with warming up the Super Soft tyres last year.

"I think for us it’s very welcome as I remember last year in qualifying the main problem I had was front locking into Turn 1 and 2 because of the tyre warm up," he said.

"With the Ultra the warm-up we have experienced has been very good, no problems to get them warm, so for us it’s only going to help really, especially if it’s going to be mixed conditions."
