Bahrain to replace India?

By on Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Officials close to the Bahrain International Circuit claim that this year's Bahrain Grand Prix will take place on Sunday 30th October. The officials report that they are awaiting on a reply from the Buddh International Circuit, as October 30th is currently the date when the inaugural Indian Grand Prix will take place.

Bernie Ecclestone has contacted the Indian GP officials, with those close to the circuit confirming this contact. It is unclear whether they would be willing to move their race from October 30th, with the date being publicised throughout the country.

Such a move would result in the Indian Grand Prix moving to Sunday 4th December, meaning it would replace Interlagos as the 2011 season finale. Such a move is likely to be unpopular with teams, who will be reluctant to run the season so close to Christmas.
