Alonso with Kubica in 2010

Fernando Alonso has said that he is unsure whether Robert Kubica will return to Formula One.

Kubica has been absent in Formula One following a rally crash in February 2011 that left him with serious injuries.

In an interview published in September's issue of F1 Racing, Alonso said "It's very hard to say whether Robert will return to 100 per cent fitness and be able to race again in Formula One".

Alonso also spoke about how Kubica, known to get on well with the current championship leader, is hurting at being away from racing.

"Now and again we speak and I know how much it hurts him to be so far away from what has always been his world. He has to keep calm and think first and foremost about recovering total functionality of his body, then he can think again about racing".
