Alonso fastest in FP3

Fernando Alonso set the fastest time in final practice for the Belgian Grand Prix.

Alonso's time of 1:48.542 was a tenth faster than Lotus's Kimi Raikkonen.

Raikkonen's time will give Lotus confidence, after wet weather on Friday forced them to abandon 'The Device' - thought to be a Double DRS - on both cars. It is thought they will be tested again in preparation for the Japanese Grand Prix next month.

It was a good morning for Sauber, who ended third and fourth with Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi.

After a day of heavy rain on Friday, the track was damp at the start of the sixty minute session. With the track continuing to evolve, the order may yet change before qualifying begins.

It was a disastrous morning for Nico Rosberg. The German complained over the radio to his team of problems relating to his seatbelt. However, worse was to come as he stopped trackside with a suspected gearbox failure.
