Re: 2009 Grand Prix de Monaco
Found this and its really true, atleast for me!!15 things that F1 fans who aren't actually AT the Monaco Grand Prix really don't need to be annually reminded of on TV
1. That the processional and rather tedious race you're about to watch is irrelevant to your "enjoyment" of it because Monaco is "such a spectacle" and unique on the Formula 1 calendar.
2. The story behind one of the driver's unique diamond encrusted nose cone/helmet/wedding tackle.
3. How "atmospheric" it all is and that you have to be there in person to really feel it's uniqueness.
4. The location of David Coulthard's hotel (the one he owns or the one he has lunch at).
5. That Monaco is the "Jewel in the Crown" of the F1 calendar.
6. How good "Aye-air-ton" Senna was at Monaco.
7. The size of Flavio Briatore's boat and the average net worth of the seafaring equipment in the harbour.
8. Where Michael Schumacher parked his car in 2006.
9. The intensity of the change in light conditions on the exit of the tunnel for the drivers.
10. What a "good egg" Prince Albert is.
11. To be shown "some lucky people who own properties that have balconies overlooking the track" sipping Champagne with their jumpers tied attractively over their shoulders whilst rearranging their sunglasses.
12. That the reason the TV presenters are on a boat is because there is "literally no room" in the paddock area.
13. That Monaco is a street track and as such has a very bumpy surface which causes all sorts of setup problems for the engineers.
14. What Monaco used to look like via archive footage of Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart that eventually melds artistically into a sepia tone shot taken only yesterday in Casino square. Yes, it's basically still the same.... quel surprise!
15. The enormity of the juxtaposition of dirty great noisy racing cars and rich sunbathing bimbos and just how unusually unique and amusing it all is..... every bloody year.

But some things I don't mind they if say them over and over. I get used to that, they say those things since I've been watching Formula 1. Like it's uch a special race and stuff like that. But things like where Schumacher parked and the lucky people there, is very annoying to hear over and over..

I do like the whole Monaco thing, but I can appreciate the humour. I agree, not nearly all of those annoy me.joostlamers wrote:But some things I don't mind they if say them over and over. Yeah, that's my point exactly. You can expect that they will always say things like it's the glitter and glamour of F1 and that the walls are so close and stuff like that.TwistedArmco wrote:I do like the whole Monaco thing, but I can appreciate the humour. Yes, I think that will be the case.joostlamers wrote:Car was bad, didn;t match the circuit, Turkey will be better for them, they'll be the 2nd best team.sejtur wrote:Too bad that he crashed out here.
I hope if nobody else can win but Brawn and Red Bull, I hope it's a red Bull. Gives you wings, too!
