Yesterday Red Bull tested a new (ugly) "shark fin":
Spoiler:

Notice that this new "shark fin" (unlike the ones seen so far) is attached to the rear wing.

I'm a Kimi fan, but I don't want the McLaren to be really rubbish, any ideas why it isn't fast. I know this is only testing...but they should be faster.
Raikkonen covered 112 laps, as he focused his attentions on the Ferrari's set-up and reliability. Over eight tenths down on the Finn was Lewis Hamilton for McLaren. Hamilton completed 58 laps, but his session ended prematurely when a sudden gust of wind swept him off the track and into a tyre barrier.
Gust of wind...sure it was...any old excuse. I know F1 cars are light but, come on, the wind!

McLaren didn't use Friday test sessions as others did last season but on Saturdays and Sundays they were there in pacewise. They have quite good simulator which gives the team luxury not to show their real pace in front of their rivals. The reason for their lack of pace might be due to this.

I think so, but only some teams (Force India, McLaren, Renault, Ferrari) will be able to test the week after (w/c 16 March) as they will not have used up their allocated 20 days after this week.

As per the McLaren, I've been really wondering for sometime if they were deliberately so slow. Tests cannot be a measure of course but we also had some data about their reliability. You can hide your fuel level but you cannot hide your smoke.

And from James Allen:
Meanwhile McLaren have been having problems with the rear wing and although they have those extra days in Jerez, they will want to get on top of their problems as soon as possible this week.

Essentially the problem appears to be that McLaren’s 2009 rear wing is stalling and causing rear end instability. They tried two difference versions in Jerez, but also stuck with the 2008 win for quite a bit of the time. They were never well up the time sheets and they did the lowest mileage of any team at Jerez.

This is a far from ideal state of affairs, but being McLaren they will get it sorted, I’m sure. It’s quite a complex problem, but they have some amazing facilities and they will be running millions of calculations at the factory to find the answer.

This year it was the same with Hamilton and Massa :)

Red Bull
Fastest car on one lap. Mercedes and Ferrari said they will have to keep an eye on them.

Ferrari
Best car on long stints. Seems, the new car is nice to the tyres, just as it's predecessors.

Toyota
Best car in the rain, which is a sign for good handling and much downforce.

BMW
Didn't play their cards till now. Good Lap times and comments of the drivers pointing to a good package.

McLaren
Seem to have problems with the aerodynamics. No good times, neither on one lap nor on long stints. The failure of the rear brake system points to aerodynamic problems in the back. Doesn't seem to work as predicted in the wind tunnel. So the colling didn't get enough air and therefore the brakes overheated.

Renault
Remain a riddle. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Big improvements for Barcelona. Piquet states, that the can improve more than others because they started testing earlier while not attaching their latest developments.

Williams
Look like mid field contenders. Not the best lap times. A new front wing is to come before Melbourne.

Force India
Narrowed the gap to the rest of the Pack. Sutil had balance problems but found a good setup on the last day at jerez.

Progress so far
Spoiler:
13:00 pm The session ends and makes a break for lunch. Come back with you as soon as you resume the session.
12:56 h Piquet and Bourdais are shooting themselves in court, both maintained a steady trend towards their recent timing. We have been informed, within a few minutes there will be a pause.
Recapitulating 12:50 h, until now the ranking of time is as follows: Button 1 on your lap 30 with a time of 1:21:140, 2nd Trulli (v50) in 1:21:852, 3rd Piquet (V35) at 1 : 22:008, 4th Sutil (v47) with a time trial in 1:22:452, 5 Bourdais (v50) in 1:22:660, 6 Webber (v49) in 1:22:679, 7 Nakajima (V38) with 1 : 22:813, 8th Raikkonen (V25) with 1:22:869, 9 Heidfeld (V21) in 1:23:605, 10th and Kovalainen (v57) in 1:24:289.

12:01 h Checking Escaleta cronos warned of the charioteer Ferrari, Kimi Raikkonen, was the runner with a low profile in this first day of testing. This data coupled with some not particularly fast time leads us to speculate that perhaps the pilot is testing a number of parts and settings on your F60.
11:49 pm Meanwhile, the kamikaze Williams, Kazuki Nakajima returns to Piquet track and pushes off the third with a time of 1:22.813.
11:45 pm After a stroll through the paddock, look at the sky and see the sun begins to drill more and more the mantle of clouds covering the circuit Montmeló.
